This is supposed to be a 10 minute service (weekdays before 6.00pm)but passengers are consistenly required to wait an average of at least 20 minutes (I personally have waited about 30 minutes often and more than once have waited over 1 hour). This happens on jouneys both from Newcastle to Kenton and the return journey. When the buses do turn up there are always at least 2 together and quite often 3 or 4. The drivers always assure me that the service is on time. If this is so then there is something badly wrong with the scheduling. This is by no means a one off event and I personally know it happens at least twice every day (including weekends). Passengers who used to regard this service as good have over the past 6 years seen a terrible decline in service. Any complaints are met with at best a meaningless response and often sheer rudeness on the part of Stagecoach employees.

I got on this bus at Percy Street in Newcastle after ensuring that it was going to Kenton. Despite this when the bus got to Grandstand Road/Kenton Road it stopped and we were all told to get the next one. In changing buses we all got soaked. The journey took about 1 hour - how can people ever be pursuaded to use the bus instead of their car when these things happen so frequently?

I needed to get this bus (number 464) from Forsyth Road, Jesmond to North Kenton. Despite standing at the edge of the pavement at the bus stop with my arm out as soon as I could see the number, the bus almost went straight past and only stopped at the last minute. I said to the driver that it looked as though he was going to go straight past. He told me that indeed he was because he hadn't seen me. When I pointed out that I had done all I could he became very abusive saying that it wasn't his fault. There were other vehicles on the road, but it is surely the job of the driver to ensure that people are not waiting at the stop before speeding past. Also, if the bus number was clearer and easier to read it would help both driver and waiting passengers.

During the recent Easter holidays, 2 boys about 9-10 years old got on to the Metro train with skateboards. I think it was at Benton they boarded. One of the boys was a particular nuisance running up and down the aisle. When they finaly got off they skateboarded up and down the aisle. If any passenger had turned from their seat to go to the door at the same time as these boys shot past there would have been serious injuries.
Is it not possible for the driver to see down the train, particularly, if he has seen boys carrying skateboards and so keep a check?
Does the driver have no means of knowing what is ahappening on the train?

When the local railway was converted to Metro they took away all the seats and gave us very narrow, high, close to the wall yellow seats. These new seats are rather too narrow, much too high (I have difficulty sitting on seats above 2' 4" high as I am 5' 6" tall. And since these seats tip when you sit on them your back hits the wall behind the seat the tips and throws you off. I phoned Metro years ago. They said the seats were not for sitting on just for leaning against. I've seen people sitting on the platform concrete and even sitting on the on the platform edge with their feet dangling over the track which is obviously dangerous. Many new bus shelters have red bench seats. Why can't we have similar ons on Metro stations?

The route of this service has been temporarily changed. Passengers were informed by a notice in the buses that from Mon. 7 Oct. 2002 buses to the Kenton & Fawdon area would stop at New Bridge Street but when I requested that a bus stopped today it did not. I walked to St. Mary's Place (with heavy shopping). When I finally got a bus the driver simply told me that it was the first he had heard of the bus stopping at New Bridge Street. Despite the fact that there was a notice in the bus the driver refused to read it simply telling me to sit down or get off. This is yet another example of the ignorance and rudeness that has long been prevalent amongst drivers on this service in particular.

Some time ago the buses on this route were double-decked buses. They were then replaced with single-decked buses. It is acknowledged that these buses are more accessible. Nevertheless since then a considerable number have been too full to take any more passengers forcing them to wait for the next bus despite the fact that they have often already waited a lengthy period. It now appears that these buses are to be changed again to mini-buses carrying a total of no more than 30 passengers. As these are not "low-floor" buses, do not have a space for wheelchair-users and are totally inaccessible to disabled passengers, the operation of such vehicles on a heavily-used route such as this is not only a breach of Disability Legislation, it also contravenes the Human Rights Act. As such it is important that Nexus re-consider any further change particularly in view of the grossly unfair increase in concessionary fares payable by disabled passengers.

I had naively hoped that following the very large increase in concessionary fares for the old and disabled this service may improve. Of course not...we still frequently have to wait over half an hour for a bus that is scheduled to arrive every 10 minutes, there are usually 2 or 3 together etc. etc. Surely this and other services must improve?

12 Feb: waited about threequarters of an hour. 4 buses went past going the other way within 45 seconds of each other. When the first one came it did not stop. I boarded the next(bus:501).The driver took my money but refused to give me a ticket saying that the machine would not work. When I asked again he said that it was on the floor and that he was not going to stop "because he was late". 13 Feb: waited half an hour. 3 buses went past within 20 seconds. The first bus came past at great speed, did not stop and almost broke my arm off. This is no longer a "service" but an insult to the travelling public who have no choice.

Reduction of Service. It was a handy bus. I used to go to the airport on it from Lemington. Also it was a handy bus to go to Blaydon

They have stopped the 102 bus over to Blaydon. My two friends and I went to Blaydon every Saturday morning winter and summer. We have no shops where we live. I do knitting every day for charity and Blaydon is the only place I can get my wool and stuffing for my dolls. We have cards to shop at the Co-op which are now of no use to us. We had a nice clean place to shop seats to sit if we were to soon for the bus back and even a busker music man.

No 102 has been withdrawn as a pensioner with family in Winlaston and Blaydon I am no longer able to visit them. As a reguar shopper in Blaydon and the factory estate I cannot get to them anymore. It is disgrace that we have no service to take us accross the water.

I was very disappointed to learn that this service had been taken off. I use it to go to Westerhope and also from Lemington to Blaydon and Winlaton. I trust you will consider bringing it back again via West Denton.

With this bus being taken off this route in Lemington we have to go further afield for our weekly shopping. We have no grocery shop where we live and it was handy for us pensioners to take the bus to Blaydon shopping centre where we could get everything we needed.

This is the only bus that will take us to Blaydon. I go to the shopping centre twice a week. The bus takes us right to the shops and picks us up there. The shops are all on the flat and when you are 79 years old this is what we need. I have to go out of the village for what we need for we have very little in shops and the prices are not what we can afford. So by having this bus we can look forward to getting out for an hour or two. So i only hope you can help us as this is our treat going to Blaydon on the 102 bus. Thankyou Mrs M Moody.

Residents of Lemington are very concerned about the withdrawal of the 102 bus to Blaydon. It was a lifeline to elderly people shoppinf as it is flat and easy more or less door to door and cost £1.00 (both ways). Now to go to Blaydon it costs £2.00 which adds to your weekly shopping budget. Pensioners don't have this sort of money. Please bring back the 102 bus service.

I wish to express concern over the withdrawal of the 102 service to Blaydon and the Metro Centre via Lemington. This has been a valuable service to the elderly who live up a hill in the middle of Lemington. the bus stop was easy to reach both going and coming home. Blaydon shopping centre is all flat and easily accessable, invalualbe to our elderly residents. Members of our community also used this bus service to order to visit family this is now made harder as they now have to use two bus services and this takes extra time and also costs extre. Other members of our community also used this bus service to go to work and miss it dreadfully.

This bus service has been withdrawn from Lemington. I have been informed that this bus service was not used in Lemington, which is indeed not true. I think that you will notice now that it was used in this area and in fact looks as if it is not used as it is running now!!!! There are quite a few people who miss this bus service, me included, I relied on this bus service to get me to work in Blaydon, I now have to go via Scotswood Road and over to Blaydon, this is costing me more bus fare and taking longer. I hope very soon that you will reinstate this bus service.

I am Disappointed at the bus company (Go Northern) removing the service 102 from Lemington. I know we are treated like the village that time forgot but I relied on that bus to get my daughter home from school. Since it has been re-routed, it now takes me an extra half hour to get home.

I boarded this bus on Wed. 14 May 2003 at the Freeman Hospital to go to Hillsview Ave. Kenton. It was 5.20pm. The bus was number:480. I have a concessionary bus pass so that any fare is a maximum of 50p and if half the full fare is less than 50p, that figure is the fare. I have used this service many times before(most recently this morning)and know that the fare is 42p.I handed a 50p coin to the driver. He asked me what I was waiting for and when I replied "my change please" he became very rude and abusive, saying that he had charged me 50p and felt that should be the end of the matter. I was apalled as this means that the driver can charge whatever he/she wants, regardless of the set amount. The driver told me to ring up if I had a complaint, but agreed with me that doing this would get me nowhere. He simply said that he couldn't care.
