Well! We reach the end. The Internet technology has proved very robust, as usual. What did we do before we had the Internet, especially email. It is unfortunate that so many individuals and communities do not have access to this technology. It could make their lives so much easier!

As for the other technologies, look out for a special de-briefing section on this website!

Today was a repeat of the congestion outside all the areas schools, showing that the weather conditions do not make a difference. Whether this is from habit or need is open to debate.

One of the points highlighted by parents in the local area is that the alteration in fares for children, up to the age of 16, in the evenings and at the weekends, and also during school holidays, is raised by 20p (80%) This is due to the subsidy system operated by Nexus, to offset the free passes issued to 7-11 year olds. This throws extra expense onto parents, especially during holiday times when children tend to travel more.

Nexus runs a reasonable care bus service, however, there are problems with fare increases, and the booking service which needs to be booked by 11am the previous day, and you can queue for up to an hour waiting for your call to get through. Also when the machine answers to tell you where you are in the queue you are charged as an extra call.

Another large problem is that the service finishes at 9.30 pm therefore causing problems if you want to go out late in the evening, as it is impossible to find suitable transport without going to the expense of individual taxis for individual journeys. At times, regular users, for example 4 or 5 people travelling to bingo in the evening on Sunday, are abandoned when the larger party wants to go off on a one off trip such as 10 persons to a garden centre. Improvements to this service could be looked at.
