The day started at the same technical base as the first day. The WAP database was not fully operational but was still capable of being demonstrated as a tool for monitoring public transport. Both GPS monitors are in use. Images are still being received on disk and via email. The fieldworkers have been briefed on relating images to narrative for the site and were still asking people to complete questionnaires despite the previous difficulties experienced. We are expecting the City Council's Internet Server to go down some time today but we should still be left with FTP access to the GoNEAT domain.

The reduced team assembled at 7:50 am in room 237 at the Civic Centre, exactly as requested, with Joe, Leon, Mike and Geoff ready for the days work.

Sara, who had kids to get off to school would go straight from home to the survey site and would not be joining us. We would however, be talking throughout the day on the mobiles gathering information.

The weather was a lot brighter than yesterday and that made for a better team spirit. Today we were without Steve Ramsey and Phillip Lockyer as they had other things to do, but we were joined by Steve Little, from the Open University. After a cup of coffee and a bit of chat we all 'gelled' and were a team again.

Geoff began the briefing with a run through of some our successes and failures from yesterday's efforts. Generally speaking it was more successful than we originally thought as we all pooled our thoughts and experiences from yesterdays field trips. All in all the transport system was standing up quite well, with some of the anecdotal evidence from the field confirming our thoughts.

Today's targets were not as ambitious as yesterdays, and we all agreed that the formula for today was to continue the surveys, record more video and photographs evidence of the day to day problems of travelling on Newcastle's transport system.
