Some interesting trivia about Corbridge Cricket Club

 1. The highest individual score was made by John "Kelly" Turner in 1961 when he scored 147 for the club's 1st XI against Haydon Bridge. Some 36 years later Shaun Fenwick narrowly failed to beat this record when he scored 143 not out for the club's 2nd XI against Gosforth Park.
 2. West Indian Test cricketers Clairmonte Depeiza, Courtney Walsh, now the world's highest test wicket taker, and Ian Bishop have all played on Corbridge's ground. Rumour has it that a young Australian called Paul Reiffel also graced our pitch.
 3. In 1981 a celebrity eleven including boxers Alan Minter and John Conteh, footballers Jim Montgomery and David Armstrong along with Olympic sprinter Alan Wells took on the club.......and lost.
 4. For many years Corbridge held the unenviable record of appearing in the league game which totalled the lowest aggregate score in the Northumberland League. In 1978 DHSS dismissed Corbridge 1st XI for a mere 37, and lost by one run when they were dismissed for 36. The irony of this result was that DHSS needed to win to avoid relegation. Fortunately this record was broken in 1985 in a game which aggregated only 69. It is a record that we will not be striving to regain.
 5. In 1976 the 2nd XI skipper of our nearest (and now dearest) cricketing neighbours Tynedale took his team from the field of play, claiming that the Corbridge wicket was too dangerous for the game to continue. A strange decision when you consider that his team was fielding at the time. Fortunately good relations between the clubs were restored many years ago.
 6.  In 1925 our groundsman was severely reprimanded for his conduct over the death of the club's horse. No we don't no anymore details but we would like to.
 7.  Yes, our club colours are blue and gold......how did you guess?
