The Crew for this exercise consisted of Volunteers, Community Activists, Local Government Officers, Academics and the Private Sector. At the crew's core were those involved in two City Council sponsored projects, namely, Newcastlehubs.com and the Social Exclusion Project. Newcastlehubs.com teaches multimedia publishing skills to individuals with low levels of literacy and numeracy while the Social Exclusion Project employs people from excluded communities as action researchers. Representatives of these projects were supported by Local Authority Officers and Academics over the two days.
