NewNet is a Limited Company and Registered Charity, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, established in 1997 and developed from a pilot project which commenced in 1995. Its aim is to assist in bridging the gap between the information rich and the information poor in the digital world.

NewNet is a champion of electronic community communications networks in the North East of England. Such networks can be described as :-

"Computerised information services provided by and for local communities which are committed to the idea of providing free public access to all information provided by the network."
